Rum rules

Goslings Black Rum is incredible.  I keep wanting to blow it off as overrated and I can't.  It works so well. So here's the story, I had some organic® Valencia oranges I got to pilfer their zest to make cinnamon orange simple syrup and I juiced 'em up.  Caveat: these oranges are some of the juiciest and sweetest I've ever had, so I wouldn't expect much from normal ordinary shitty oranges.  The simple syrup was sitting there cooling off and I couldn't help myself - So, I poured this:

2 ounces of Goslings
2 ounces of the freshest damn orange juice
1 ounce of cinnamon orange simple syrup
a dash of orange bitters
a dash of Angostura bitters

Shake and pour into a glass vessel.  The pulp and foam will remind you of a swim in the devil's lake during a wind storm - messy.  I don't know what to call it, maybe there's already a name for it.  Not to toot my own horn but this is one of my favorite drinks in a while.  I was afraid it would taste like the autumn candle section at Bed, Bath and Beyond but it really didn't.

p.s - If you think you can use bottled OJ for this, you can't. And get more oranges than you think, this is really drinkable, like punch.

I was so excited, I had a photo shoot while I was pillaging the first one.

Another brown/orange cocktail. Anti-pink

What a mess. I might consider straining that filthy thing for company.

Correction: 1 ounce of that simple syrup is too much - that's more like for two drinks and might send you into a sugar coma. Try 1/2 or even 1/4 ounce for one drink.
